Sounds Aero Maintenance

I was given the chance to fly with Sounds Aero last week, flying high above Marlborough Sounds and outbacks. Thanks to Craig Anderson, the managing director of Sounds Aero Maintanance, a company which managed a large fleet of planes and helicopters in the Marlborough region.

It was my day off and i managed to arrange a time to fly with Craig to get some aerial photography shots of Marlborough. Dont know much about plane but this was a 2 seater, small size plane capable of landing on almost anywhere. According to Craig, we can lift off in 25 meters, which is really amazing! We land on fields and riverbed, flying across narrow gaps, it was simply breathtaking. Im even allowed to shoot with the door open while we are flying. Cant believe i dare to do that, and not to mention, risked the camera and equipments of falling down.

Anyway, I'm still in process of editing the photos and videos shot from both Nikon D700 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 (loaned by James Luhrs of Olympus New Zealand). So here's some preview..

What a beautiful morning!
Wonderful morning!

It was really cool to be here, especially when u only took 4 min from main road on the plane, compared to 4 hours tramping. Nice peaceful environment, crystal clear water, wildlife around, it was just perfect for a weekend getaway!

We need a little landing and taking off from the river.. and here's one of the shot

Michael & Ann

Few weeks back, i was given a chance to shoot the wedding of Michael & Ann, from Penang island and Tambun respectively. There are such a lovely couple, and great to work with. It was also my first wedding shoot with my newly purchased Nikon D700 and it serves me really well! The new (new to me, old to the world.. haha.. i was using Nikon D200 for years) technology, ergonomic, eq, noise controls, it is amazing. Cut short, it makes my job alot easier and faster (compared to Nikon D200, which is still amazing with it's CCD sensor, and will continue to serve me as my second body)

Anyway, i had fun shooting that evening, and was very very happy with the results as well. The noise control of Nikon D700 is amazing, with up to usable shots at ISO3200 (ISO800 with my D200). The location of the shoots are at Taman Tambun Indah, where the bride's house is.

Here's some shots that were taken on the evening, i hope you guys love it and as always, C&C are highly appreciated :)

Cindi Lim @ Lighting Class by Kevin Chooi

Taking a break from holiday and street shooting photos, i went to a studio lighting class, organized by Dream Wanderers, and conducted by Mr. Kevin Chooi, a professional photographer from Penang, Malaysia. The class are held at the Lightroom Studios @ 8Rows owned by Mr. John Liew. The lighting setup and  equipments are superb, perfect for us to learn studio lighting and photography. Our model of the day is Cindi Lim, also a professional make up artist.

As a newbie in studio lighting, i learned alot on placing of lights, uses of various diffusers and relectors, a great way to refresh memories and do some practical shooting instead of reading theories. Here's the result of the class, taken by Nikon D700, Nikkor 35-70 F/2.8, and 6 studio lighting setup by Mr. Kevin Chooi. Comments and critics are highly welcomed!

Here's a group photo at the end of the day,

Thank you all!
